Scroll down to see more pictures. There are brief explanations at various points down the page. You can also go on to view a second set of photos on another page.

The top two photos show, on the left, the entrance to Kagando Hospital and, on the right, part of the children's ward, where Toks works for much of the time.
The next two photos below were taken in the region near the hospital. Bicycles are a common mode of travel in the area - it's amazing how much can be carried on a bike! The hospital has a project to encourage bicycle use and the use of trailers to carry more - but more safely. The houses in the picture on the right are typical of those in which many of the patients live.

The capital city, Kampala, in the left hand picture below, contrasts with the scenes in the pictures above. Kampala is several hours' journey from the hospital, and Toks rarely manages to get there. People like doctors and nurses prefer to live in the city where there are modern facilities and services and they can work in the government hospitals. The Kagando Hospital therefore finds it very hard to attract staff.
The remaining pictures on the page show scenes in Uganda; it is a beautiful, lush, green country despite being so near the equator, with interesting wildlife! The bird in the last picture features on the Uganda National Flag.
