"Welcome" Page > Home Page. > General Information Page. > History > Immanuel Church in the first half of the 20th century - photographs >
These two photographs are from the parish archive. Their date is not known, although it is obvious the lower one was taken after the galleries were removed in 1931. The external staircase in the upper photo would have led to the gallery so this may indicate an earlier date, although some staircases remained after the galleries were gone. Nothing is known of the circumstances of these photos being taken or who was/were the photograhper(s) and apologies are offered if any copyright has been infringed. There is someone working with a stepladder by the notice board in the upper picture and the group by the church door are facing away from the camera, both of which which suggest the picture was not specially commissioned or posed but may have been a casual view, perhaps taken by a visitor or church member.
