Elizabeth Shearcroft commenced her ministry among us as the new vicar of Immanuel and St Andrew on 1st June 2005. A large number of guests, including the Mayor of Lambeth and local councillors, as well as friends from Elizabeth's previous parishes in Kendal and Kent and visitors from many of our neighbouring churches, joined us on 1st June for Elizabeth's induction service, at which Bishop Tom presided.
Elizabeth comes to us with over 20 years' experience of pastoral, teaching and evangelistic work. She was commissioned in the Church Army - as Sister Elizabeth - in 1984, and worked in a number of parishes in Kent.
After ordination - as deacon in 1994 and priest in 1995 - Elizabeth served in hospital chaplaincies, also in Kent, until 2002, as well as assistant curate (NSM - non-stipendiary minister) at Holy Trinity Margate until 1998. From 2002 until joining us she was assistant curate in the parish of Holy Trinity, Kendal, in the Lake District.
