Scroll down to see pictures taken during the progress of work on the hall and tower.
Please Note: This page is incomplete and is awaiting redesign. It is hoped to create a complete photographic record of the work here. Scroll down to see what has been added so far!
The first job was to erect a screen round the hall on the inside.
This made it possible for us to continue to
use the hall while the work went on around the sides.
The old kitchen units were soon stripped out. Here, Steve Sedwell (left), one of our
architects, and Jim Drury from the building committee inspect the old kitchen area. Behind them,
the beam supporting the ceiling has been exposed; it had rotted and had to be replaced by steel.

Some walls had to be demolished, while elsewhere new ones were built.

A new drain had to be laid under the kitchen floor. Note the props supporting the ceiling
so that the rotten beam can be removed.
In this picture, taken through what is now the new doorway to the hall,
the drain trench has been filled in and, on the extreme right, a new partition wall
for the toilet has been partially completed.

Once it was agreed that the work on the tower should be added to the
project scaffold appeared round the tower in record time. As the trees turned green for Spring
our tower turned green with safety netting!

of the project.
