This page is an archive of news and other items that appeared on this site during 2007 and which may continue to be of interest although no longer current or topical. The items on this page come mainly from the 'News and Notices' page; the list below summarises the contents.
Note - the Web Archive contains only items that have appeared in some form in the past on the website, which was started in 2002. The History page provides access to some other (generally older) information and historical material. For other material in the Web Archive go to the main Web Archive page.
You may remember the 'Buckets of Love' full of household items we collected together at the end of 2006 and at the start of 2007.
Global Action UK were able to collect 1500 buckets from churches throughout the country, including ours, and these have now been sent to four destinations in Eastern Europe. Mike and Pam Sheenan of Global action have told us of how these gifts have touched people's lives in Rumania and Bulgaria. Many thanks to those who contributed to this cause earlier in the year.

This year we raised £643.24 during Christian Aid week, from our collections in Sainsbury's and door-to-door. Thank you to everyone who contributed in every way, particularly to Eno Amooquaye, Marcia Crowe, Jim and Maureen Drury, Sandra Harris, Jenny Hull, Jill Luscombe, Joyce Lynch, Hannah McLean, Charity Mbuwayesango, Liz Owens, Myrtle Powley, Colin and Lorraine Thomas and Arthur Williams.

After months of wishing and hoping and praying, our prayers for a new churchwarden were answered at our annual meetings when Arthur Williams agreed to serve as warden, alongside Angela Grant. Arthur made an auspicious at the first PCC meeting start by becoming PCC vice-chair and taking us through a very long agenda in record time. We are very grateful to Arthur for agreeing to serve, and to Angela for her continued commitment. We also welcomed Martin Sharpe as a new PCC member elected at the Annual Meeting.
Very many thanks to all those who worked so hard to make our Maundy Thursday Seder meal, at which the Jewish Passover was explained by Madeleine Williamson from Jews for Jesus, such a success. The kitchen staff were brilliant - special thanks to Hannah and Joyce for organising and producing such a wonderful meal. Many people commented on how the presentation made the concept of Holy Communion come alive so that we could get a real picture of what happened at Jesus' last meal with his disciples. It was good, too, to meet and have fellowship with friends from other churches in the locality.

Elizabeth would like to pass on thanks to all those who made he 50th birthday celebration on 20th January so memorable, and to those who remembered her birthday on Wednesday 24th. She feels truly spoilt! (Photos below!)

Elizabeth opens her present - and later, Martin and Peter were among those who entertained us!
