News and notices

Last updated 24 April 2008.
New or updated notices usually have a border.

Please refer to the NOTES further down for general information and help with this page.

For further details of our programme see the Diary page. For help in getting to us, visit the 'Getting there & Access' page.

Please note that, from January 2008, the 10:00am All Age Service (and the 9:00am Holy Communion which precedes it), will be on the THIRD Sunday of each month instead of the second Sunday. On the second Sunday we will have Holy Communion at 10:00am, as on the 1st, 4th and 5th Sundays. From 1st January 2008 Junior Church groups will normally meet on the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays each month during term time. The new arrangements are shown on the services page.

Annual Parochial Church Meeting

At the Annual Parochial Church Meeting on 20th April the following people were elected:

Thanks were given to Richard Owen and Sam Mallett for their time on the PCC and to Sam again for his time on the Deanery Synod. Minutes from this meeting and the most recent PCC Meeting are, as usual, on the noticeboard in the church foyer. The date of the next PCC Meeting is Tues, 13 May.

Connections

'Connections' is the name of our new monthly mid-week service of prayer, discussion, teaching and worship.

Each month there will be a specific theme, beginning with our life with God and one another. In the coming months the themes will include our community, our families and friends overseas, the problems facing young people and environmental concerns.

As well as spending time discussing the subject we will pray about it. The rest of the programme is going to be flexible and may include Bible study, or some teaching. Music and worship will also feature, but there will be no set format.

We will be inviting different people to lead each session, and we hope you will want to come even if the theme does not directly concern you. If you would like to suggest a theme please speak to Arthur Williams or Marion Gray.

The meetings will be on Wednesdays at 8:00pm in the Church, and the dates will be advertised in Open Door. The first one is on Wednesday 14th May. See you there!

Welcome Tea.

Our next Welcome Tea for those who have recently started to come to Immanuel and would like to meet other congregation members socially will be on Sunday 18th May at 3:00pm in the Common Room. Talk to Jane Fletcher for details.

Bishop's Lent Appeal

Members who have been collecting a donation for the Bishop of Southwark’s Lent Appeal are asked to bring the gift to church as soon as possible. Please make sure it is marked 'Lent Appeal' and put it in the collection. It would be a big help to the counters if you could change your money to notes or a cheque. Thank you.
